Boulder County, CO powers-up with a new Emergency Operations Center fully furnished by 5280 Digital

Boulder County, CO powers-up with a new Emergency Operations Center fully furnished by 5280 Digital Inc. a Centennial Colorado AV and Broadcast system integrator providing the building with a superior AV system overhaul. The new system will provide the center with the ability to tap into the most up-to-the-minute information, crucial for managing crises ranging from threats to homeland security to severe weather.

The Emergency Operations Center serves as both a dispatch distribution center and as a training facility. The building houses rooms that that can easily be transformed to best fit the diverse needs of the facility. From a wall divider to the three new projectors the facility can be modified and controlled with a Crestron touch panel. The integration not only better equips the facilities ability to manage resources but also will improve communication among both state and local agencies.

The entire system can also be controlled using a key or a web controlled IP address providing the center with remote management options. This unique aspect of the system may seem complex but thanks 5280 Digital Inc.’s engineering capabilities the control was kept both simple and effective. “We spent a lot of time thinking about their work flow… if it is too hard to use then it won’t be used” per Russ Pease of 5280 Digital Inc. Pease strives to design systems that his mother could use with less than an hour of training.

5280 Digital Inc.’s design includes a total of eleven large format Sharp professional LCD panels, three projectors, a 24x24 router with seven HD cable boxes, a DVD player, and 8 computer feeds enabling the center to receive the most up-to-date news within each room of the entire facility.

Russ Pease an expert in uniquely engineering AV systems to accomplish the users needs said “it needs to have natural flow to it that doesn’t require an understanding of the technology behind it”. With a background in designing military mission critical systems the engineers at 5280 Digital Inc. have unique experience in both AV and broadcast television. Coming in both on budget and on time the project exceeded the expectations of Boulder County and will certainly ease the workflow of the EOC.
